The Ventura County SELPA is committed to providing supports to our Speech-Language Pathologists. These staff are invaluable in assisting our students in their speech and language development.
The Ventura County SELPA regularly convenes a committee of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) representing each of our SELPA school districts. This group assesses need and develops the annual plan for training to support Speech-Language Pathologists in our SELPA.

The theme for the 2008-2009 school year is “the SLP’s Role in Response to Intervention (RtI).” RtI is a new educational model which will be used to provide early interventions for struggling students, and eventually may be used as a step in determining Special Education eligibility. The SLPs in the Ventura County SELPA want to be proactive in determining their role in this new model.
The Ventura County SELPA is also certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide professional development CEUs for SLPs and audiologists. SLPs are required to obtain a certain number of CEUs in order to maintain licensure. Annual fees for registering CEUs with ASHA are paid directly to ASHA.
A $5.00 fee is paid to the Ventura County SELPA for each event for registering your CEUs for you. You will also be required to submit an Assessment of Learner Outcomes at the end of each event.
There are currently several positions available for SLPs in the Ventura County SELPA. Come work for us! - Ventura County is a great place to live and work! Available Jobs
