Private Schools

Students enrolled in private schools have a right to a special education assessment at no cost by the district of residence.  If the student is found eligible for special education, an IEP will be developed.  If the family continues to enroll the student in a the private school, the IEP will not be implemented.

Each school district determines how and what services will be provided to students enrolled in private schools within their district. The responsibility to provide services is relatively small.  An Individual Service Plan (ISP) will be developed, according to district guidelines.  Families have very limited rights in disputing the ISP.
