•Mental Health/ Behavior Services Specialists


The SELPA employs
Mental Health/ Behavior Services Specialists who consult with local school districts to assist with children with challenging behaviors.  


BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST SERVICES

Behavior Specialist services or other social/emotional problems may include: 

•    Conducting Functional Analysis Assessments and/or Functional Behavioral Assessments
•    Assisting with development of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) or Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
•    Follow-up to teachers and other staff in implementing PBSPs or BIPs
•    Analysis of classroom environments and consultation to promote pro-social behaviors
•    Staff development

The following districts are currently contracting for Behavior Specialist services:

 

    Fillmore Unified School District
    Hueneme School District
    Ocean View School District
    Oxnard School District
    Oxnard Union High School District
    Pleasant Valley Unified School District
    Rio School District
    Santa Paula Union High School District
    Simi Valley Unified School District
    Ventura County Office of Education
    Ventura Unified School District

 


MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES SPECIALISTS

Mental Health pre-referral services assist students who are at risk for referral for mental health services with the county Mental Health Deparment.  Services may include:

 

•    Counseling
•    Social Work Services
•    Parent Counseling and Training
•    Behavior Intervention Services

The services are provided through the SELPA by a consortium of school districts which includes:

    Briggs School District
    Hueneme School District
    Mesa School District
    Moorpark School District
    Oxnard School District
    Oxnard Union High School District
    Rio School District
    Santa Clara School District
    Santa Paula Union High School District
    Somis Union School District
    Ventura County Office of Education
