Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

What is the CAC?
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is made up of family members, school staff and agency representatives. The CAC facilitates the communication and exchange of information between schools and families, advises the administration of special education of the Local Plan Area on the concerns and collaborates to solve the problems. CAC promotes activities that benefit individuals with special needs and the formation of parent sponsors.

  • Parents / guardians of individuals with special needs  (the majority)
  • Representatives of agencies that serve people with special needs
  • Special education and general staff

When and where does the CAC Meet come?

The CAC meets quarterly, the first Monday of each month, from October to June, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm The meetings are open to the public and take place in the SELPA Office (Santa Paula room), 5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo, CA 93012.

Free child care, interpretation of sign language, Spanish interpretation and other accommodations are available if booked 10 days in advance. Please request accommodation (s) necessary for you to participate. Call the SELPA office at (805) 437-1560 for the next date of the meeting.

How can I participate?
Members of the public are always welcome to attend CAC meetings and give input. If you have a concern or suggestion, the CAC will review it and give you written information about how it will be treated. If you prefer to speak with a CAC member privately or by phone, call the SELPA office at (805) 437-1560  for contact information, including the name of your school district representative.
