Behavioral Interventions
The term behavioral interventions is used to describe certain ways of teaching students skills needed in the school setting. These may include academic, language, social/emotional or functional life skills, among others.
On this website, the term Applied Behavior Analysis is used when discussing interventions to teach students new skills, or skills that they need to use better and more efficiently.
When discussing interventions to change student behaviors which are not desired in the school setting, the term Positive Behavior Supports is used.
Some students have mental health needs or serious behaviors which put them at risk for suspension or expulsion from school or out of home placement.
