Students with Autism

The Ventura County SELPA is dedicated to quality programming and services to students with the diagnosis of autism, autism spectrum disorder, or “autistic-like.”  The IEP team determines the appropriate placement and services to best meet the student's needs.  Programs are developed and implemented in the school districts to meet the needs of the children in their area.

The Ventura County SELPA is committed to quality training and personnel development to offer top quality programs for our students and their families.  In 2000, the Ventura County SELPA Autism Certification Program was launched at the insistence of our Superintendents that our staff must have the highest quality opportunities for training.

The SELPA has a method for special education teachers to verify their expertise in working with children using methods of Applied Behavior Analysis, which have proven to be effective in meeting the needs of some children with autism. Click here for a copy of the Verification Process Handbook and see "Behavior Interventions" - "Applied Behavior Analysis" on this website.
